The investigation, codenamed “Arctic Frost,” began in April 2022, a sweeping action by the Biden Justice Department. It involved the seizure of cell phones belonging to both former President Trump and former Vice President Pence, accompanied by a nationwide series of interviews.
Former Congressman Devin Nunes, now CEO of Trump Media, recently revealed a startling detail about the scope of this investigation. Appearing on a broadcast program, Nunes explained that Truth Social, the social media platform, was inexplicably targeted by Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team.
What makes this targeting particularly unusual is the timing. Nunes emphasized that Truth Social did not even exist on January 6th, 2021 – the date central to much of the investigation’s focus. The company only became public in 2024, raising serious questions about the justification for the subpoenas issued.
The investigation stemmed from the actions of alternate electors in 2020, prompting the DOJ to broaden its inquiry to encompass Trump and a vast network of individuals and organizations. Senator Chuck Grassley has stated that the probe aimed to target the “entire Republican apparatus.”
Nunes questioned the actions of JP Morgan, revealing that the bank provided records to investigators despite Truth Social’s non-existence at the time. Shortly after, the bank reportedly terminated its relationship with Trump Media while the company was still private and preparing to go public.
While JP Morgan publicly maintains it doesn’t close accounts for political reasons, Nunes expressed skepticism, suggesting a different standard may have been applied at the time. He believes the subpoena of Trump Media’s records was entirely unwarranted, given the company’s lack of involvement in the events of January 6th.
With hundreds of thousands of shareholders worldwide, Trump Media found itself caught in a legal crossfire it had no reason to be in. Nunes is determined to uncover the truth behind the DOJ’s interest in the company’s financial records.
The focus now is on determining what JP Morgan knew, when they acted, and whether there was any coordination with the Biden administration or the Justice Department. Nunes pledged to pursue every legal avenue, both in Florida and at the federal level, to expose the full extent of the situation.
The questions linger: Why was a company that didn’t exist targeted? What prompted JP Morgan’s actions? And what was the true scope of “Operation Arctic Frost?”
