Christian Fuscarino, 35, the long-time leader of Garden State Equality, has been formally charged with serious crimes, sending shockwaves through the state’s political circles.
Fuscarino faces a second-degree charge of endangering the welfare of a child, alongside two counts of simple assault. The charges stem from an alleged incident that unfolded within a private home on November 9th, brought to light by authorities reviewing security footage.
The accusations paint a harrowing picture. According to an affidavit, Fuscarino is alleged to have forcibly removed a child from their bed, then repeatedly struck the child’s face and pushed them against a wall with significant force.
The initial report came not from the child, but from another individual present in the home who witnessed the alleged abuse and immediately contacted authorities. This witness bravely intervened during the incident, according to the affidavit.
Following the initial report, the child was taken to the Monmouth County Child Advocacy Center for a forensic interview.
